Introduction
Matla Life Investments is looking for a knowledgeable and client focused Wills & Estate Planner to join our Financial Planning and Estate Services team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in wills, estates or financial advisory who enjoys working directly with clients and wants to build their career within the financial planning environment.
You will play an important role in helping clients protect their assets, plan for the future and ensure the smooth transfer of wealth to their beneficiaries. The position combines professional estate planning, client consultation, compliance and business development, giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the financial lives of clients.
Duties & Responsibilities
Client Advisory and Estate Planning
• Conduct client consultations and needs analyses relating to wills, trusts, and estate planning
• Draft and review wills, testamentary trusts, and related estate planning documents
• Educate clients on estate duty, capital gains tax and succession planning
• Provide professional and client centric guidance throughout the estate planning process
• Cross sell relevant Matla Life Investments products where appropriate and compliant
Documentation and Compliance
• Ensure all documentation complies with the Wills Act, Trust Property Control Act and relevant FSCA regulations
• Maintain accurate client records and filing in accordance with POPIA requirements
• Liaise with attorneys, executors, and the Master’s Office during estate administration
• Ensure a high standard of accuracy and compliance across all client documentation
Business Development
• Participate in field activations and financial literacy workshops to generate new leads
• Build and maintain relationships with financial advisors, agents, and referral partners
• Develop opportunities within the Matla Life Investments client base
• Work towards monthly KPIs relating to consultations, wills drafted and revenue targets
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications and Experience
• LLB, BCom Law, or Diploma in Estate Planning or Paralegal Studies
• NQF 5, RE5 and Class of Business: Long term Insurance A if selling products
• Certificate in Wills & Estates or Estate Planning is an advantage
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in wills, estates, or financial advisory
• Proven experience in drafting wills and handling basic estate administration
• Experience with Master’s Office processes is an advantage
Skills and Competencies
• Strong knowledge of South African estate planning legislation and relevant tax implications
• Excellent client communication and presentation skills
• Strong attention to detail and sound ethical judgement
• Comfortable working with MS Office and using a CRM platform for lead tracking
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle is an advantage for field activations
• Ability to build trusted professional relationships with clients and referral partners
Key Performance Indicators
• Number of client consultations completed monthly
• Wills and estate documents drafted against target
• Client satisfaction and maintaining zero complaints
• 100% adherence to POPIA and FSCA compliance requirements
• Revenue generated through estate planning services
