CIVIL SOCIETY POLICY FORUM


At the recently concluded World Bank Group–IMF Annual Meetings 2025, we engaged actively with civil society throughout the week, including at the Civil Society Policy Forum (CSPF). From thought-provoking sessions to constructive exchanges with our leadership, civil society’s perspectives continue to inform and strengthen our work. Below are some key highlights from the week:

Developing economies face an investment shortfall of historic proportions, with investment growth slowing to about half its pace in the 2000s. This new report presents the World Bank's most comprehensive assessment of investment in emerging and developing economies, examining why investment has stalled and what it will take to revive it. The World Bank organized a global suppliers webinar on October 9 to attract suppliers to participate in Bank-financed projects, especially in Energy, Transport, and Water. Watch the replay.

Women entrepreneurs are key to creating jobs and driving inclusive growth, yet face persistent barriers to accessing the capital they need to expand. The World Bank is helping close this gap through innovative financing and partnerships that crowd in private investment, build skills, and strengthen ecosystems for women-led enterprises. Every year, 11 million young Africans enter the labor market, yet only about 3 million wage jobs are created. At the State of the Africa Region: Powering Job Creation in Africa event, country ministers, World Bank experts, and private sector leaders discussed how affordable, reliable energy can unlock business opportunities, boost productivity, and generate jobs across the continent. Grounded in findings from the Africa’s Pulse October 2025 Report, the discussion highlighted how initiatives like Mission 300 are paving the way to connect 300 million people to electricity by 2030.
