Apple TV could be one of the night’s big winners. Its new series “Pluribus,” “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” and “Widow’s Bay” all earned multiple nominations and are favorites in several categories. HBO Max’s “The Pitt,” which has the most nominations of any show, is also poised to earn some statues, particularly following wins at last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmys.

Patel on the Hill: FBI Director Kash Patel is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. This follows a contentious hearing before the Senate Appropriations Committee in May, when Patel was asked about media reports alleging he drinks to excess. He was also questioned about the cost and importance of his trip to the Winter Olympics in Italy after video surfaced of him drinking and celebrating with the gold-medal-winning US men’s hockey team.

The Fed and the Furious: Federal Reserve policymakers will meet this week on the heels of a report that showed inflation heated up in August, likely boosting the case for the central bank to raise interest rates to prevent consumer price increases from becoming more entrenched. The prospect of a rate hike spurred President Donald Trump to declare in a social media post earlier this month that he would prevent the US from trading with many nations unless rates come down. Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh has signaled recently that he is open to raising rates if inflation remains too high, potentially drawing the president’s ire.
