Most people were out trick-or-treating or watching the World Series this Halloween weekend, because movie theaters had their worst turnout of the year. Between Friday and Sunday, box office revenues hit just $49 million, the lowest of the year, after a weekend of no new releases. Paramount's Colleen Hoover adaptation "Regretting You" rose to No. 1 with $8.1 million, while Universal's horror sequel "The Black Phone 2" was close behind with $8 million. As a result of a dismal month of releases, the October box office hit a three-decade low. Rebecca Rubin has the in-depth analysis below. Not only is "Harry Potter" coming to the small screen with HBO's upcoming TV adaptation, it's also getting new audiobooks narrated by a starry cast of voice actors from Audible. The new take on "Sorcerer's Stone" is coming out tomorrow, and Todd Spangler has an interview with the three young leads who are bringing Harry, Ron and Hermione to life. -- Jordan Moreau |
